Orange Grove

Orange Grove is an iconic Maitland district property covering 106.96 hectares (264 Ac) and adjoining Duninald to the north ,Stradbroke to the south and Tocal to the west across the magnificent Paterson River.

Orange Grove was granted to John Powell on March 5th 1821. Orange Grove was chosen on the east bank of the Paterson River for its rich river flats of level to undulating alluvial soil with deep sediment deposited by numerous floods over thousands of years.

Water is Orange Groves greatest attribute with a 496 megalitre water license to extract from the Paterson River. A beautiful billabong and 3 other dams compliment water pumped to water troughs in each paddock from the river.

The fertile soils and improved pastures are conservatively running 80 cows and calves and 30 replacement heifers at present. Orange Grove has a rich history of growing many high yielding crops for the Powell family in the 1800's and early 1900's. The soils on Orange Grove are suitable for all types of agriculture.
