Maitland Liveweight Sale Report –   6th December 2021

Total yarding of 550 cattle made up of 400 vealers and 150 export cattle.

Restocker steers 200-280kgs 620 to 940c/kg, avg 705c/kg; Restocker steers +280kgs 480 to 745c/kg, avg 655c/kg; Restocker heifers 200-280kgs 600 to 805c/kg, avg 645c/kg; Restocker heifers +280kgs 450 to 625c/kg; Butcher vealers 540 to 605c/kg; Milk & 2 tooth steers 450 to 528c/kg; Restocking bullocks 438 to 462c/kg; Prime bullocks 420 to 454c/kg; Cows 295 to 380c/kg; Bulls to 350c/kg.

Highlights: Best yearling steers returning $2,727; Best pen yearling heifers $2,375; Angus restocking steers 740c/kg, 285kgs $2,109; Best pen of Hereford bullocks 438c/kg, 719kgs $3,150.

Maitland Liveweight Sale Report – 29th November 2021

There was a yarding of 150 head this sale. Numbers were down due to the wet weather. Overall quality and condition of the yarding was very good. Some of the regular buyers were not present however, the market was still firm.

Best butcher vealer 530 to 590c/kg, 5-10c better; Restocker steers 200-280kgs 620 to 760c/kg, avg 710c/kg; Restocker steers 280-330kgs 540 to 700c/kg, avg 640c/kg; Restocker steers +330kgs 550 to 680c/kg, avg 615c/kg; Restocker heifers up to 280kgs 598 to 684c/kg; Restocker heifers 280-330kgs 520 to 640c/kg; Restocker heifers +330kgs 510 to 570c/kg; No export to quote.

265 cattle yarded. Number easier this week due to the recent rain throughout the Hunter. Both export & trade/vealer market remained firm.

Maitland Store Cattle Sale Report – 20th November 2021

Total yarding of 900 head of cattle. Quality and condition was very good with some really good lines of Angus weaners. There was no young cows & calves or PTIC to quote. Great buying attendance from the local area, Upper Hunter, Bathurst and Central Coast regions.

Highlights include: –

A/c Portree Park sold Angus PTIC cows at $2,800 to John Unicomb, Westbrook; A/c Matt Hobday, Somerset Angus Peats Ridge, sold 9 magnificent Angus heifers, 16mths, unjoined for $3,500 which was a NEW MAITLAND SALEYARDS RECORD to Sam Vumbaca, Peats Ridge; A/c R & G Harris, Mulbrae Chads Creek, sold a tremendous run of 80 Angus mixed sex weaners with the steers topped at $2,200 and the heifers topped at $2,250.

Liveweight Sale Report – 15th November 2021

280 cattle yarded today with some good quality butcher vealers, Angus weaners and Euro yearlings on offer. Overall the market was firm to 5 or 10c/kg better in places.

Butcher vealers 510 to 565c/kg; Steers under 200kgs 500 to 885c/kg; Steers 200-280kgs 600 to 848c/kg, avg 750c/kg; Steers 280-330kgs 450 to 780c/kg; Yearling steers 420 to 706c/kg; Weaner heifers up to 280kgs 515 to 760c/kg, avg 680c/kg; Heifers 280-330kgs 500 to 640c/kg, avg 610c/kg; Yearling heifers 400 to 560c/kg, avg 520c/kg; Grown heifers 340c/kg; Cows 285 to 386c/kg, avg 360c/kg; Bulls 300 to 330c/kg.

Highlights: A/c Fetterplace, good quality Angus yearling steers 684c/kg, 351kgs selling for $2,400 with the heifer portion making 636c/kg, 310kgs $1,990; A/c Abbey Hand, 2 very good Limousin steers 536c/kg, 512kgs selling for $2,750.

Maitland Liveweight Sale Report –   8th November 2021

This yarding saw a total of 380 head. Quality and conditon was fair overall with a good line of restocker cattle yarded. Trade cattle were firm to dearer on heifers and slightly cheaper on 300kg steers. Export cattle remained firm, best vealers firm, restocker heifers 5-10c/kg dearer, light steers firm to 5c/kg dearer, heavy steer weaners lost 10c/kg and yearlings were 10c/kg better. There was another Maitland Saleyards record broken today with black Limousin weaner steers making $8.70c/kg.

Weaner steers 150-200kgs 750 to 870c/kg (new Maitland record); Weaner steers 200-280kgs 600 to 870c/kg, avg 690c/kg; Steers 280-330kgs 550 to 700c/kg, avg 660c/kg; Steers +330kgs (not many on offer) 480 to 605c/kg, avg 510c/kg; Light heifers under 200kgs 730 to 840c/kg, avg 800c/kg; Heifer weaners 200-280kgs 570 to 750c/kg, avg 665c/kg; Heifers 280-330kgs 500 to 645c/kg, avg 600c/kg; Steers 600-750kgs 400c/kg; Heifers +540kgs 380c/kg; Cows 270 to 388c/kg.

Highlights: Speckle Park x steers topped at $1,922; Limousin vealer heifers topped at $2,140; Run of Angus steers 284kgs, 690c/kg $1,963; Run of Angus heifers 280kgs, 645c/kg $1,811; Maitland Saleyards record broken for little black Limousin x Angus steers 870c/kg, 150kgs $1,308 and black Limousin x Angus heifers 840c/kg, 130kgs $1,085.

This sale saw a total yarding of 1000 head. There was a great line up of quality, well bred females on offer. The market was strong across the board with most of the market $85 – $250 stronger. Buyers came from Dunedoo, Tamworth, Goulbourn, Wingham, Scone and strong support from local buyers.

Todays sale saw a total yarding of 650 cattle. The overall market trend was firm to $50-$80 stronger in places.

Steers:

Weaners: $1250 – $2000 to average $1625

Yearlings: $1750 – $2225 to average $1900

Grown: $2000 – $2300 to average $2100

 

Heifers:

Weaners: $1170 – $2050 to average $1490

Unjoined: $1800 – $2100 to average $2000

PTIC: $1950 – $2600 to average $2200

 

Cows: 

Cows & Calves: $2000 – $3550 to average $2580

PTIC: $1900 – $2650 to average $2300

Unjoined: $1600 – $2200 to average $1900

 

Highlights included

A/c Grahame Chevalley, Glenroy sold a run of Angus Steer Weaners topping at $1875 to average $1827 going to Glenliam Farm of Clarence Town. A/c WA & P Munton sold a run of lightweight  Angus weaners with the Steers topping at $1450 to make 979c/kg to a local buyer with the Heifer draft topping at $1350 to R & B Livestock. A/c Scott & Yvette Ryan, Luskintyre sold a good line of Angus Steers for $2175 to Portree Plains of Nelson Plains. Buyers came from Scone, Tamworth, Mudgee & strong local competition.
