With a great run of cattle the market was all firm to stronger, with support from Southern Queensland, Coonamble, Tamworth, Cootamundra alongside good local support.

Cooreei PTY LTD Dungog sold 17 Angus Bulls rising 2yo, Grassfed and quiet. 100% clearance topped at $11500 to average $7500, Top price bull was purchased by James Hopwood of Dungog.
Cooreei also sold the top price pen of commercial heifers PTIC for $4400 to R & B Livestock.
T & L Norrie Gloucester, sold top price middle/young age Angus cows & calves for $3500 to B & M Duncan Boambee Angus, Seaham.
‘Wirragulla’ Dungog also sold good young Angus cows & calves too top at $3500 twice to J & A Maulder.

A total yarding of 500 liveweight cattle that was made up of 470 trade/weaners and yearlings and 30 export cattle. What we saw of the market it was firm to slightly strong on the weaner and yearlings and the export market was firm on last week sale.
There was a good run of Angus and Angus X weaners yarded. Those weaners firmed up to 15c/kg stronger. All regular buyers operated with strong competition.

21st January 2023
900 Cattle yarded comprising of 300 Steers, 200 cows & calves, 100 ptic/joined females and 300 heifers. Quality and condition was fair overall with some well bred pens of cattle on offer. There was very good competition from the local area and also from the west.
Weaner steers made between $600 to $1600 dollars to average $1150. Yearling steers made between $1150 to $1975 to average $1500. Grown steers made from $1600 to $1975. Weaner heifers made from $650 to a top of $1700 to average $1000. A nice pen of un-joined yearling heifers made $1925. PTIC Heifers made from $1700 to a top of $2400 to average $2150. PTIC cows made from $1500 to a top of $2600. Cows & Calves made from $1700 to $2850 to average $2300.
Newpark Pastoral, Chichester, topped the market with a good pen of heavy weaner steers making $1600. They also topped the weaner heifer market with the heifers making $1700.

Total yarding of 1075 cattle. Some outstanding lots offered along with many plainer conditioned lots. The market trend showed better lines with breed quality -$100 while others -$200. Overall the market was softer on recent sales, quality lots less affected.
